Due to local council budget cuts Paignton Tourist Information Centre is now closed permanently
This is just one more reason to stay in a B&B owned and run by local residents who will have all the local knowledge and information and be able to help you enjoy your stay.
At Harbour Lodge we will continue to offer all the information on attractions and activities within the English Riviera and the wider South Devon area. We also provide details of alternative travel, bus timetables, theatres, restaurants and of course our local expert knowledge will be available to help you make the most of your stay with us.

Steaming in 2013
A nostalgic trip on the steam railway from Paignton to Dartmouth has always been a favourite trip of many of our guests, often combined with a boat trip on the river Dart.
This year it gets even better with even more steam and more nostalgia. The last remaining coal fired paddle steamer "Kingswear Castle" in operation in the UK has returned to the river Dart. She was built in 1924 at Philip & Son of Dartmouth and plied her trade between Totnes and Dartmouth until 1965. (her engines are even older, dating back to 1904),
Harbour Lodge is only a 10 minute walk from the Steam railway station in Paignton so an ideal base to enjoy this and many other attractions that the area has to offer
It's a trip we are looking forward to taking.

Online Booking
We have been asked a number of times why we cannot be found and booked on sites like Booking.com or laterooms.
The fact is that although these sites claim that there are no booking fees they charge the accommodation a percentage of the total cost of the booking, typically around 16% plus VAT. This means that the accommodation only gets around 80% of what the customer pays.
Whilst the business could absorb a small number of bookings made that way ultimately we would be faced with one of two options.
- To increase our prices to pass on those commissions.
- To reduce the level of service that we offer.
A good tip when booking accommodation in the UK is to note the price on sites like Booking.com then contact the accommodation direct. Say that you have seen their price on booking.com and ask if there is a discount for booking direct.
